Designed and organized Crutchfield's subwoofer wiring diagrams; ... If that sub is a DVC 4 ohm model, you can wire it to that amp's sub channel like this diagram. As for a Nav receiver, give us a call and an Advisor will help you pick out the right one for you. Josh from St Louis MO.
Subwoofers have different impedances (Dual 4 ohm, Single 2 ohm, etc) that change your wiring options when you add or subtract woofers. The final impedance of your subwoofer must match the acceptable impedances of your amplifier, with 4 ohm and 2 ohm being the most common final impedances.
Below are the available wiring diagrams for the speaker configuration you selected. The resulting impedance (ohm load) is considered the "Nominal Impedance" seen by the amplifier. Note: One or all of the wiring options shown in this application may not be compatible with your amplifier because of low impedance loads. Please check your amplifier ...
Subwoofer wiring diagrams for 1 ohm, 2 ohm, 4 ohm, and 6 ohm dual voice coil subwoofers and for 4 ohm and 8 ohm single voice coil subwoofers.
Welcome to the CT Sounds Subwoofer Wiring Wizard. Our subwoofer wiring calculator allows you to figure out how to wire your Dual 1 Ohm, Dual 2 Ohm, and Dual 4 Ohm subwoofers in several different qualities. If you are wanting to know how to wire your subs look no further than our wire diagram.
Single Voice Coil Wiring Options. The following diagrams are the most popular wiring configurations. They show a typical single channel wiring scheme. Check the amplifier's owners manual for minimum impedance the amplifier will handle before hooking up the speakers. Remember: 4 Ohm mono is equivalent to 2 Ohm stereo.
So if wiring two Single 4 Ohm subs you would take 4 Ohm and divide it by the number of voice coils. So 4 Ohm divided by two voice coils will equal a 2 Ohm load. Okay now as you saw above the single 4 Ohm subs wired in a parallel resulted in a 2 Ohm load, just what we needed for the amplifier example from above.
Subwoofer Wiring Diagrams. Step #1 – Choose the # of subwoofers you will wire in your system from one amplifier output. Step #2 – Specify 2 or 4 ohm single voice coil OR 2 or 4 ohm dual voice coil subwoofer(s) The Subwoofer Wiring Diagram tool will then display two wiring options with the final impedance at the amplifier.
The recommended speaker impedance ratings are usually listed above the speaker wire posts. A home stereo, for example, may often list 6 16 ohms as being ok for use. Also, attempting to wire two 8 ohm speakers in parallel to an 8 ohm stereo would have the same effect. (Two 8 ohm speakers in parallel is equal to 4 ohms total that the amp will see)
